Many of us desire so many things, but rarely take the time to consider why we want these things or to ask God what he really wants from us. We constantly want more things, but we never ask God what he wants in return. We cannot claim to be in fellowship with God while acting unilaterally and making demands all the time. We know what we want from God but do not know what He wants from us.
We cannot claim to be in communion with God while maintaining a one-sided relationship in which we constantly make demands, and he merely provides. Prayer is meant to be more than just a time to make requests from God but a time to be in conversation with the monarch of the universe, your Father. How many of us allow God to speak during our time of prayer?
